no, that's unheard of! oven-chips? Who would cook a chip in an oven when you can saturate in hot delicious grease?

Yes, I call them oven-fries or steak fries, though. I make them all the time--not from frozen. You can just cut up a baking potato into thick wedges, season, and bake until done and crisp. Much healthier than thin fries.

In Canada we have all kinds of different fries. McCain Superfries, in shoestring, regular, crinkle cut, and steak fries, curly fries, seasoned fries, etc. Most stores, like Safeway and Sobey's have their own brands as well.

Not really. I'm sure some do but as a majority no. We do slice potatoes and bake them, but those are scalloped potatoes and are not like McDonalds at all. Usually have a cream sauce on them or olive oil and herbs.
They sound good though.

Sure do-- they're called Ore-Idas, and come in crinkle cut, shoestring, steak fries, homestyle, tater tots (fritters), etc... I can't believe no one knows what an oven-baked french fry is?!?!

i think that they sell frozen french fries here, which you can bake if you feel like it, and which come in many different shapes/sizes. there's no standard kind though.
