Drink lots of water. I think its about 6-8 16 oz glasses of water, I could be wrong on that figure so look it up. Water as a purifying effect on the body and it will reduce water retention due to sodium.

Count calories (not as hard as it sounds, there are plenty of sites on the net that can help you) to stay under the 2000 calories a day mark. As long as the amount of calories you burn is more than the amount you consume, you will definitely lose weight. Also, try to limit your complex carbohydrate consumption (sugar, white bread)

Do excercise, 30 minutes of cardio at least three times a week and light weight training. More muscle, even a little, burns more calories a day.

Hit the sauna, a 10-20 minute session increases your heart rate 50-75%. This provides the same metabolic result as physical exercise and is the equivalent of going on a brisk walk.

Keep your metabolism up and burning calories by eating a light snack (fruit, salad, an egg, etc) every 4 hours. If you g any longer than 4 hours than your metabolism will slow down. If you plain just don't eat than your body will actually store more fat and it will be harder to lose.

...and of course, DON'T fall into bulemic/anorexic activities. THEY DON'T WORK. I don't know you so this is just a general warning b/c that s***'s out there. Dont fall for the fads either, if we could lose 10 lbs in a weekend doing the hollywood diet then I think everyone would do it.

Don't hurt yourself just to look good on a cruise, please

At 5'4 and 132 pounds you are not overweight. I am the same height as you and I was around the same weight you were at your age. By the time I got to college I decided to lose weight, by not eating very much, and I weighed about 100 pounds for the next few years. I regret having done that because all I thought about during those four years was not eating so I could look a certain way. If you are in shape and healthy, then you do not need to weigh certain amount. Why do you want to lose ten pounds? Do you think it will really make you look better? I think if you take some time and look in the mirror you will begin to see your are already beautiful without losing ten pounds. Just be healthy and accept yourself.

It won't be easy to lose 10 pounds by the end of march but don't give up hope! I'm also 14 and I am way underweight (95 lbs.--now you think i have some kind of eating disorder--well, i don't!) and I'm 5'8". Try to cut back on the junk food and concentrate on fruits and veggies. Don't try any of those crazy fad diets that are impossible to keep up with. Jog outside every morning or evening or use that treadmill you have. And why "must" you lose weight for your cruise? I've been on a carnival cruise and they are FUN---and noone cares about their weight on them. I am actually TRYING to gain weight---and it is SOOO hard. I'm not gaining ANYThing at all!! I just want to fit into some more clothes. (but you don't want to hear about me). Yeah, so stay exercising and limit your portions.

If you are 5'5 and 112 you must think I'm a fatty. I weigh 120 at 5'5 and I'm totally healthy!! If the pic you chose as your avatar is really you- you look plenty skinny, anymore weight loss and you'll look gross. If you are worried about body image, realize that weight and actually being healthy are two different things, the less you weigh never means you are in better shape. Muscle weighs more than fat! You need to tone up, not lose weight! Do toning exercises like pilates. But for pete's sake, get that notion out of your head that you need to lose weight. It's more attractive to have a trim, toned figure than to be a flabby bean pole...I wish people would realize that.

You know hon as you said, you are 14 yrs old. What on earth are you thinking about your weight for. I am a 23 yr old single mom of a 3 yr old and believe me I wish that I was 132 lbs again. The fact that you do stay active, gymnastics, treadmill. etc... is a great sign that you are a healthy young woman and you shouldn't be worrying over 10 lbs. In my opinion if I was 14 and about to go on a cruise I would be doing my best to convince parents that I really really need that new outfit of hair style ,etc. Personally I don't think I can say it enough but don't trip on ten lbs and show this to your rents please!!!!! They I am sure will agree to the fact that 10 lbs is nothing...

I am not an expert in the field of loosing weight. I've never had a problem with weight. but i am a water polo player and a swimmer, and i know that the best way to stay fit and not gain (bad ) weight is to eat a lot of protein, moderate carbohydrates, and drink a lot of water. but you need to stay as active as possible that is the key if anything. stay away from a lot of starch and junk food . eat organic and GREEN THINGS....trust me their worth it in the long run. but please don't think just because you exercise that means you can just eat whatever you want. You must exercise and eat right. Swimming and Jogging/Running are the best exercises....(Swimming doesn't include marco polo)....laps and lots of them. But please don't take my words as ultimate truth I only know from personal experience what has worked for me. Everyone is different. But if you decide to pick this (plan) stick with it if it works for you. it wont be the fastest plan but you need to do it forever basically if you want to keep unwanted weight off.

I would run as much as you can, I've found that to be the best way to burn calories, since you're doing gymnastics, you've already got the muscle building part down. You could drink tons of water and green tea, and then of course count calories but don't let it get out of hand, at your height and weight I'm sure you look great but I know exactly how you feel. Good luck, hope you reach your goals

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Get started today!

Please be careful. In reality you should only loose 4 pounds per month. I have had patients who have ran into severe medical problems by loosing to much.
I would recommend eating a well balanced diet. 3 times per day with fruits and vegetables only for snacks. Just exercise every day. I walk for at least 30 minuets per day.
Best of luck to you.

What is it with teenage girls and body image? Look, if your doctor says you are okay don't worry about it. You are still growing and unsupervised weight loss is not wise. You are fine as you are. You are a beautiful person and don't forget that. Believe in yourself.
