yes, there is, at least for the Army. I don't remember where the training is held, but they will actually train you for all different enviornmental extremes.. to include Deserts and mountain terrain.

I spent 13 months at McMurdo Station Antarctica (1972-1973) and it might be the Finn blood in me, but I acclimatized quite quickly. Drove my wife nuts after I came back in November of '73 and wanted to sleep with the window open, walked the board walk here at Va Beach in shirt sleeves. Even now, when I have to do some work out in our unheated warehouse, others are whining about how cold it is, I just layer my clothing and hit it.
Now the opposite, I was assigned duty on the Flag Ship for the Middle East Forces (1978-1979) and that heat just wore me out. I didn't enjoy my liberty as much as I would have if the temp wasn't over 100 a lot of the time.

I would think it's just being there that would acclimate you.

For example - we moved to the desert in AZ (a military post) and it only took a few months - but 80 at night is freezing. You see people (during the day) wearing jackets and such if it drops to 79.

120 feels 'normal' now.

they probably do, my dear sweet one. if they have gas chambers, they probably have 'cold chambers....' but i dont think they'd let the recruits take in their own jackets.. let em shiver, make em scream out who is cold .. who is colder... our military isnt that sadistic. ... too bad, isnt it?

ps: they dont let anyone in with 'fetishes.' for real. take note of last condition.......
