it depends on what colors your like and your mood... colors affect our moods.... Anyway, i found this site for you,
http://www.paintquality.co.uk/ps/interior/#
click on the PQI color designer and play around with the colors... See which one you like and hopefully it'll help you decide..
As for the posters, take them down for now... that way your parents wont use them as an excuse anymore... enjoy your new room color.. and maybe hang the posters later on to match the new style.

I suggest you go to the nearest Home Depot or Lowes and grab a few paint chips that you like. Then go home and tape them to the walls to see how they would look in your room and how they would go with the other things in there. Wood furniture can always be painted. However, if you can't get your parents to OK the room being painted I don't think you'll have much luck in them allowing you to paint the furniture! When you paint, take down the posters and fill in any holes that they may have made. Be prepared to offer to do the painting yourself or at least help your parents. This offer will look more attractive to them and may convince them to let you do it! Good luck!

First, you might want to get rid of some posters (It tends to look cluttery and tacky). If you don't have a theme, then think of a color you really like. I heard somewhere before that the first color you see when you wake up in the morning has an effect on your attitude. Think of light, pastel colors that won't annoy you after a couple months. Something that you will still like years from now (its not easy to paint a room). Tell your parents it is something you really want and that you won't ask to repaint your room a different color because you don't like the one you picked. Be nice to them so they will be more lenient. :0]

Try visiting the library or bookstores(my favorite) to study the home decorating books and magazines to get ideals. Or try studying the predominant colors in your desired or existing furniture and decorating accents such as lamps, pictures, vases, bookshelves, and bed covers. Hopefully you will find a color that will go with all those items. If still stuck, go to Sherwin Williams, Home Depot or Lowes or any paint seller that has loads of paint sample cards, and take all the paint sample cards that catch your fancy. Take turns taping them to your wall and see how you like those shades during the day and evening. Once you narrowed down the choices, go back and see if you can get those sample paints in the 2 or 3 oz jars and paint a sample board (white poster board or white cardboard box from grocery store) to see a bigger sample to help you make a final decision. Hope this helps....

What kind of colors do you like???? You could match your bedspread and like paint each wall a different color. Sponge one of the walls with two colors. Take all your posters down then put them back up after it's painted, maybe you can convince your parents if your posters aren't on the walls...

Make sure the colors of your posters blend well together. otherwise, they look really ugly with the paint. You can make some sort of design on your walls like polka dots or something that you like so that you can use a bunch of different colors in your room.

You could go though Mount Vernon and look at Washington's room for some examples.

The green or another bold color looks pretty good.
