I've worked at a dollar store for the last 7 months. In that time I've seen some of the most vile things.... including horrid smelling people... people who smell so made you gang and about vomit.

Anyone else who works with the public, have any tips?

When you encounter a person like this, breath through your mouth and ignore it.

I have a customer that comes in every once in a while and she has really bad b.o. but she's the nicest lady. I just deal with her like every other customer that comes in. I breath through my mouth and when she's gone, I will sometimes go outside for a quick breather.

You need to remember that these people are just like everyone else.

If you want to send a not so subtle message, walk around with a small clothes pin (hey, maybe they sell a bag of em in the store) on your nose and breathe through your mouth. If that's too obvious or embarassing for ya just stuff a cotton ball in each nostril while you're workin. I can relate. I've been in there. Family Dollar is no bouquet of roses either.

Come on....of ALL the stores in America, the dollar stores are about the lowest class of all, so what do you expect except A FEW low class people (amongst all the average folks). Have a heart, or get another job.

Recyclers at the rubbish places make fair money, and would make your dollar store smell like roses. Quit yer bitching

I was once in a college class were one man came in with bo every day, and another would come in on rainy days stinking like a wet horse.

The easiest is to hold one's nose. I can't believe in this day of soap and water people go round dirty.
At a dollar store, some of the stinkers my be homeless, so have a bit of an excuse.

you see, you should know how's it really like to work in a dollar store.. you've already been working there for several months, yet it is so hard for you to adapt to it, so better quit the job and get another one..
