say they were testing a medicine that would grow hair on humans and they don't know the side-effects yet. instead of risking a human life, they will test the medicine on an animal closely related to humans (chimps or something). I don't know this for sure but i doubt that most testing would be done with out careful measures to protect the animals

When testing is done on animals they pick a species that is similar in some ways to humans...like they experience the same effect from a disease. A robot would hardly be a good test subject for the simple fact that robots are not alive or biological in any way. Would you give a toaster cough syrup to see if it would work?...Nope and you'd probably get electrocuted or set something on fire.

Drugs are tested on humans after being tested on animals...ever see the commercial about all these wonder drugs with horrible side effects? The side effects were discovered using a sample size of people after intitial animal testing. The people get paid and the animals may end up dead or somewhere safe if they're lucky and not in a horrible condition...I doubt they would be used in other tests because the effects of the last drug may affect the outcome of the new trial.

I know I really don't like it that tests are done on anyone or anything unless they say it's OK.
But the tests have to be done & I really think that robots would not have the same reaction as a live being. Most of the people that are part of a test program do get tracted a long time after the test has ended. There are guide lines that must be followed.
