Yes but that is self defense. We have to protect ourselves. Killing is justified if it is to save your own life or the lives of others.

When the bibles "thou Shalt not kill" it means not to murder someone. There is a difference between killing and murder. Even the bible says there is a time for war. To kill in defense of a nation or people is not what you would call "killing"(murder) To break into a persons home and shot the owner, that would be considered killing. I know there is a fine line and hard to separate, I guess it really boils down to the intent behind the action.

Well, if any other Christians want to have a problem with those who serve in the military disobeying the Bible, then they can go live in a country that isn't free.

Not all people in the military are killing.

Many people have killed in the name of God throughout history.

According to the Bible, God does a lot of killing.

Take your pick of Matthew 21:21; Mark 12:17; or Luke 21:25 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

A soilder is trained to kill the enemies of his country and to protect his country from all harm. Any man who enlists in this grave and noble task serves his country with high honor, and at great risk against himself. But that is his job. To attract the enemy to him, so that he won't come to you. He is trained to fight the enemy, while you are not.

Lately it seems to be a thankless task. But for those like myself, I owe them my debt of gratitude and moral support. They are protecting the rights of the disenters of their service as well as the supporters of their service. They are rendering unto Ceasar his due. There is nothing wrong for both Christians and athiests for serving in the military.

"Thou shalt not kill" everyone knows what that means. Common ordinary citizens do not have the right to kill thier neighbor who is peacefully living with him. Only in self defense the one intent on killing you will not stop, do you end his life.

This is all common sense.

There is nothing wrong with the military or that it kills it's enemies. Your own body has an immune system that fights against threats that try to enter your body every day. If your own body has a defense mechanism to fight so that you can live a normal live. A country should have that same right to defend itself against a common enemy.

I am opposed to war and fighting of any kind. However, many people justify this by saying that it was translated incorrectly, and that the original language was more like thou shalt not murder.
Although another place in the Bible says there is a time for everything.--I am not a religious scholar, so you probably want to ask a minister or something.

I am personally a pacifist and a christian. I believe that as Christians we shouldn't be involved in an earthly kingdom's war. We are citizens of heaven and should act as such. Do we show our love to our enemies by killing them? What if we kill a brother in Christ just because he is the 'enemy'? I want to be God's vessel in helping bring people into His kingdom - not taking them out of this world when they are not saved and will go to hell.
I do believe in the government's God given right to be a sword but I do not think Christians need to or should be a part of it.

The best translation of the Hebrew is 'thou shalt not murder'.
However,I respect the views of both pacifists and those who think that war is sometimes necessary.

Jesus says........."thou shalt do no murder".....(Matthew 19:18 kj) It's what "Kill" is actually interpreted as.......Kill is not the same as murder. Murder is an unjustified plotted plan with intent to take someones life. In the military, it's not the same as murder so you can't define it that way.

It's their decision ifthey want to join the military. But not all Christians do. Please don't judge if you don't know. It is like asking, why do Atheist kill other people? Or why do Atheist scientist torture and kill animals if they believe in evolution?
