My daughter is 6 and she takes a shower by herself. The only thing I do is turn the water on and off and get her a towel and help her dry her hair, and help her get dressed for school when we are in a hurry and her little sister is running around. Other times she gets dressed by herself.

I have 2 kids- 10 and 13. They have both been bathing themselves since about 8yrs of age. I always check their hair after they bathe. I also keep track of how long they bathe. If I think that something was not done thoroughly-they are sent back to the shower to start all over again. A few times of this and they make sure that they do it correctly the first time. The same goes for their teeth. If they don't look good-they do it again and again until they do it right. I do think that lotion is great. I wish that my mom had taught me to start moisturizing my skin when I was young. Good habit to teach him!!! I do think that he's old enough to be responsible to take care of his bathing. Is there some reason why you feel that he can't do it himself? You sound like a great and caring mom....give him a chance to do it himself and he just might show you that you taught him all that he needs to know.

I have three boys ages 9, 7 1/2 and 6 1/2, they are in 3rd, 2nd and 1st grades. When they get up in the morning, especially the older two, they get their showers on their own. They adjust the water at the spigot and then turn it to shower and do everything themselves. They wanted body wash that could be used for hair and body and I bought the suave brand and they each have a bath scrubbie. Only my little one needs help now to adjust the temp and usually he just gets in as one of his brothers gets out. It is pretty simple for me now, of course, I am right here to help whenever they need me. Mostly I just holler when they need to switch so the last one doesn't end up with no hot water.

Well first of all I'm 11, sooooo yeah. Anyway I get in the shower and wet me hair until it's soaked. Then I put in shampoo and then conditioner. Last I do the soap, rinse off , and dry off. Just 2 let u know I would NEVER bathe in front of my mom at that age!

please dont get upset.. but a 10 year old does not i repeat does NOT need to be supervised or bathed by his mommy. He needs to be less babied or he will have serious issues in school... 3 more yrs he will be a teenager.... unless you have a weird fasination with giving him a bath you seriously need to quit immediately it is wrong. when hes in highschool gym class will you show up for school after his pe class to help bathe him? son who is now 9 took baths alone at the age of 5 with the door open and me nearby. He washes hisself everyday and shampoos his own hair in the shower and i make him wear deoderant . If you smell his hair or do a sniff test after he bathes you will tell if he needs to get back in or not. He is way too old to have his mom bathe him really.

You supervise a 10 year old's bath? You have a 10 year old that's taking a BATH??? If this is not a joke, you need to stop controlling his every move... Provide him with the tools to take a shower and then give the poor kid some privacy!!

All my older children take showers on there own.Molly(7)normally takes showers but she needs help turning on the water. My son Conner is 6 and I have to bathe him.He doesn't like water in his face so I wash his hair first then he puts on his soap and rinses off. When he gets out he dries off and puts his clothes on.This is an everyday thing!

Why do you keep asking this question? A 10 year old does not need mommy to help him bathe. This is border lining on disturbed if you are even serious.
Kids over the age of 6 can do all these things by themselves if they are taught how.

Well my daughter is not even two yet.She will be two in may. After dinner I run her bath and let her play for about 10 to15 minutes and then I wash her hair. And now she is getting the hang of washing herself up.So that one less thing I have to do.I think we have a pretty good routine.

My son is 5 years old and he washes his tummy (he is lazy) and I hope by the time he turns 10 he is more indepent...then I put lotion on him and he gets dressed and brushes his teeth and then his sister (3) gets a bath she washes her arms, hands, feet, legs, I finish her up and lotion her and comb her hair and the brush her teeth and get her jammies on...then I watch the clock for bedtime...lol
