Gas or Constipated? You should not be taking Nexium and Prolisec together. I had the same problem and doctor put me on Nexium, but it not meant to be on permanently. I was advised to quit smoking, don't eat fast food (even though I didn't eat much of it), stay away from caffeine, and get more exercise. Well I did all of the above and it worked. Most people with acid reflex are over weight, smoke, and/or eat a lot of junk food. Yes, caffeinated carbonated drinks will give you that problem. However, I read recently that seltzer with lemon with your meal will help with heart burn and other problems because it pushes them through your system faster. I just started drinking seltzer with my meals and it's done no harm so far, but haven't noticed anything better.

If you continue to have these problems see an internist they usually don't like putting people on meds because it is treating the symptoms not curring the problem. If you already saw an internist and they didn't find the problems, see a different one.

Sounds like IBS. Talk to your doctor. They have a medication that can help with that---if that's what you have. You need to see your doctor regardless. Make sure you are eating enough fiber. That is the first thing your doctor is going to tell you to do--eat fiber.
