First impressions are lasting impressions. There is nothing wrong with forming a general opinion about what someone is like when you first meet them. I think its wise to sit back and analize so you know what you are getting into...

I have found that many people judge before they even talk to the person. I have offten been judged just by my looks. when i was a teen i was judged because i was a goth. Many mothers and fathers who considered me a bad influance was wrong in many ways. i was brought up in a GRATE home, i never did drugs, did not drink and never have been introuble with the law. Because i saw how it felt to be judged i always tried not to judge. Though i have done so a few times. We tend to judge those that look and act the oppisite of us. while many of these people are very good people. I had one girl i judged in school to be a typical preppy snob. Well i ended up friends with her later in life and now we are grate friends. goes to show what judgeing does.

Only when I have to make a quick decision about something that's basically not very important. I mean -when I enter a room full of people, I have to decide whom to talk to first within a minute or so, I can't go hand out questionaires nor do I usually want to observe for a very long time. And in trains & busses I also just have to go sit next to someone when there are only a few places left, I'll go sit next to someone who looks nice rather than next to someone who's scowling. But I think I can honestly say I don't let it affect my judgement if/when I start talking to them. I've very often changed my mind about someone whom I thought either looked nice or didn't, and also I'll often not even remember where/how I first saw someone briefly but only remember my first longer encounter!

unfortunately, I do. But that's because at the time I probably wouldn't know them well enough to judge them by who they really are. So I'd automatically just judge them by first impressions.

Yes, of course, and you never have the chance to make another first impression on another. Mine run about 90% accurate, therefore, I am also wrong 10% of time. I think most people are equally intuitive, if they listen and think.

I think that it takes time to really know someone well and to assess who they really are. However, I do admit that first impressions sometimes are hard to change. But I try to give people the benefit of a doubt.

It's hard not to with some people. I just keep trying to remind myself to keep an open mind and that people might get the wrong impression about me as well.

i have and prayed about it when i did. I found that it is really hard not to judge other kids when you have your own. I don't want my kids to hang out with bad influences.. so I do judge.. :( and keep my kids from them. But now what? Aren't we supposed to keep our children safe? But if i didn't judge and decide who is good and bad for my children, they wouldn't be safe. hhmmm... Is this really judging someone? Or protecting those you love?
