I'm not having a really formal wedding, somewhere in between formal and casual. I don't want a train on my dress unless it's a really short one. I kinda wanted to wear a veil though... not too long of course... my question is this: I don't really want to have the veil covering my face until "You may now kiss the bride"... I'd rather just have it back the entire time... is this normal? Has anyone done it before? Or will it look inappropriate? Please send your opinions...

I never had my veil over my face when I got married. It just seemed too outdated, plus it annoyed me when I did.

It's your wedding...do what makes you happy!

Congratulations!

First off, congratulations!! You do not have to wear the veil over your face. When both of my daughters got married they did not have the veil over their face and they looked beautiful as I'm sure you will too!! It's your wedding and you do things the way you want to and not how you think others may feel. You will get a lot of unwanted advice while planning your wedding so all you need to do is let it go in one ear and out the other. I do hope you have someone to help you through this most special time in your life like your mom, a friend or family. Good luck to you and may God bless your marriage!! When are you getting married?

This is YOUR day. You can do anything you want. Veil or no veil, veil up or veil down.
Don't worry about protocol especially since it is not a very formal wedding. Do what is going to make you happy.
Congrats! Best of Luck!
And take a moment to really take in the day - it goes by SO fast!

Completely appropriate. Go for it!

The only case that I would say no on this is if you are a member of a very serious church, such as Orthodox Roman Catholicism or something like that. Then, you may offend someone. Following old traditions, you wearing your veil back would be like saying 'we've slept together and I don't want to be modest about it!' No one truly cares about that anymore, though.

A blusher (veil over face) is totally seperate from your veil & optional. Most weddins I've been to don't have blushers. I personally have a pretty formal look going (long train, longest veil on earth), but I hated the idea of a blusher. If you don't want it, you don't have to have it.

it's totally fine. remember it's your day! do what makes you happy! just some ideas...get a elbow or fingertip length veil with the comb to go in your hair. it naturally falls backward, so no veil in the face! you could also wear flowers in your hair with a veil falling from them. these are very normal, acceptable, and classy alternatives to the old fashioned veil covering your face. hope this helps and congrats!

You can have it back the whole time if you want. It looks nice especially if you are wearing a tiara. I'm wearing mine back the whole time, my wedding is informal, and I even have 2 kids but I liked how it looked with my dress. Theese days anything goes.

You don't have to wear the veil over your face if you don't want to. My daughter wore it off her face for the entire ceremony.

from what i have seen you cover your face when walking down the isle and then your dad takes the vail of your face when he is giving you away to your future husband. Then you dont cover your face.
