G'day,

Which part of Arts are you planning to study and what level? Some Arts courses includes Drama, Journalism, Media Studies, Psychology, Graphic Designs and more. Unfortunately you did not mention your current level of education qualification.

What I would suggest will be to use IDP Education Australia website to determine the course you want to study and which institutions that offer the course. IDP is an organisation that gives information to overseas students who want to continue study in Australia. Website is www.idp.edu.au.

All universities in Australia have the same quality and the qualifications are recognised anywhere. Therefore the most important thing is to find the course or major that you really want to study and READ the course information carefully. Some courses may have the same name, but different contents. So it is important to read the information. Also if there are any Australian education exhibition in your city, best to visit to get info and talk with the staff to get the feeling abt the uni. Some bigger uni's do not have very good support for international students.

Hope this helps. E-mail me at mikegun@studentfirst.com.au if you have any questions. Good luck for your study and welcome to Australia.

If you mean actual art not "arts" (which here is humanities and social science type study) I'd recommend you investigate the College of Fine Arts (COFA) which is part of University of NSW and located in Paddington, Sydney. It's a dedicated fine arts uni and you can major in all sorts of fields from sculpture to painting to photography. They have an extensive library and the campus is small and friendly, with a very arty vibe. I think a lot of their former students go on to hold their own exhibitions and become well known.

Arts and Art are very different things. At uni, art is usually called Fine Arts to distinguish it from Arts. All the major universities have a Faculty of Fine Arts. You should check the websites of the various universities to see what is on offer.
