My boyfriend proposed tonight. The ring is a little on the big size. I would rather it be tighter because for one, it moves around a lot, and also because I'm afraid I'm going to lose it.
He said it will take 3 weeks to resize it though at Sears. I don't understand why it would take so long when other people on here said it only takes a few days. He thought to maybe take it to another jeweler, but he said that might void the warranty.
What do you think?

I'm not being neurotic. I'm just trying to figure out if I can get it done in a few days as opposed to 3 weeks. Geez.

Congrats! Please, stop by Sears, find out what their policy is. If it's three weeks, then it will be three weeks. See if they can put a rush on it. I don't like the idea of it taking so long either, but I had to have my engagement/wedding bands sautered together, and go without them for at least a few days. Make sure you hang onto the "ticket" they give you for your ring. I wish you and your man the best! Take care.

Rings can take time to size. My ring came from Leroys & took 2 weeks to come in...almost too late to go with my fiance's plans to ask me.
I've had other rings sized & it's taken a while sometimes. I sized 5 rings once from Kay's when I lost weight & I got them back at different times, one took about 3 weeks. My wedding band took almost 4 weeks recently. I've never heard of it just taking a few days personally.
Taking it somewhere else will void the warranty. All the work they do will be saved in the computer & anytime you take your ring in they will size it just to make sure it matches what they have in their computer, speaking from expierence & from having a friend work at a jewlery store. Take it to where he bought it, it may take less time but it's not worth losing the warrenty to have it faster.

Just wait the three weeks. If you take it to another jeweler it isn't going to be covered under warranty if something happens to it. I do think it's strange that it's going to take 3 weeks. I dropped mine off on a Sunday and picked it back up on Friday. But I would have gladly waited 3 weeks just to know it was safe.

First, congratulations. Second, don't sweat the petty stuff. I mean you have more thing s to worry about than resizing your ring. You now have the pleasure of planning a wedding. It it's anything like I am experiencing now, bring lots of booze and some Zoloft. Good luck.

Do they have to send it away or are they doing it right there in store? Mine had to get sent away( it wasn't through sears) and they told me 6-8 wks but it came back in two. Another jeweler might be able to do it in a week but it will cost more.

They probably have to send it away, whereas a regular jewellers would have it done on site.
