I have a year and half year old cat, who nurses his blanket... it used to be my baby blanket, but he took it over when he was a kitten. I also have a 4 year old cat who nurses his own tail! Sometimes I look at them doing it and think its gross...but others I see how much they enjoy it, and they always do it after being loved on..so I know they just feel loved. I havent really tried to stop them...

I have a Turkish Van that we were given when she was only 3 weeks old -- she could barely walk a straight line. We started out by feeding her watered down baby-food in a bowl!!! Anyway, my point is, 2 years later she STILL tries to nurse on anything she can find -- including our "old maid" cat who is 12!!!! We've tried to break her of this habit, but NOTHING seems to work. She's perfectly normal in every other respect -- eats dry food from the "communal" food bowl, drinks water from a bowl, uses the kitty litter box, etc. This is just one of her "quirks" and we've come to just accept it.

It's natural- don't ween him off- he will out grow it- I found with my young girl- I let her chew on my fingers- she would just lightly chomp and never hurt- and now we are best friends! He will probably chew stuff until he is 9 months while the baby teeth fall out and the adult teeth grow in. Enjoy this time- cause soon he will grow up and get a mind of his own and know how to work you!

MANY cats do this into adulthood, sometimes their entire lives. If he might nurse on clothes etc that you don't want him to, you're probably going to just have to keep those clothes off of your bed or wherever he's finding them. I just bought an extra throw blanket (actually, a couple of yards of fleece material) that I keep on the beds and one on the couch, just for our cats. It's up to me (the mom) to keep things away from them that could hurt them, or that they could chew up etc...

You learn to live with it when you love your pets.

I have cats that did that too and they eventually grew out of it.

it's normal. he'd probably love a fuzzy/soft blanket.
