At 26 140/100 is high but it isn't the end of the world either. The 'ideal' blood pressure is said to be 120/80 through to 140/90 after this point BP is considered high (mind you I know a lot of cardiologists who would tell you ideal BP should actually sit closer to 100/60). Now although 140/100 is not overly hypertensive this is not to say you shouldn't be proactive - what may be a minor concern now can very quick become a serious situation in the future. I too am not an advocate of BP medication for borderline conditions I believe that situations such as yours can be corrected through dedicated life-style changes; get exercising, reduce your saturated fat intake (read the side of the box - be strict on yourself), practice stress management (read a book or sit a course and figure out what works for you), loss some weight if need be and get check-ups regularly (it won't go away if you ignore it). Most important of all SEE YOUR FAMILY PRACTITIONER, he/she can create an action plan that is personal to your needs. All the best

I'm not a pill person, so I wouldn't suggest any medication. It can be handled by just eating correctly. First you need to cut down on salt, then if you're over-weight that can have an affect on the high blood pressure also, just ask for a diet for high blood pressure and begin eating correctly and that should help you out. I wouldn't think you need a ct scan. Your blood pressure is somewhat high but that could be hereditary. A small amount of bp meds might be all that is needed.

There are three ways to lower blood pressure: exercise, diet, and medications. The safest thing to do is start walking each day, and very gradually build up the distance and pace, along with cutting cholesterol, salt, and saturated fats out of you diet.
