If you are english speaking and going to an american school name is very important for self esteem and later in life for job searching. Like getting a tatoo on your face you live with your name for life. So unless you have made the mistake of getting a tatoo on your face don't make the mistake of naming your poor (even imaginary) child King Elmer or King Kong.

I went to highschool with a guy named Kingsley, everyone called him King but I wouldn't go with Elmer. Anyway with that name Kingsley he didn't get made fun off. He was actually quite popular. But then again I amfrom a small Minnesotan town.

That is horrible - sorry but King for a 1st name is asking for trouble - sounds egotiscal and idiotic - think of him as a teenager trying to pass that off as his name. And Elmer is glue or the old man on loney tunes - but if you want to use that anme for family reason - please do not torture future kids by naming them King.
I have a friend who was 30 yrs old who changed her name to Queen and I think that's her right to do it as an adult - she hated her name and decided Queen was better - but you can bet when she was a kid she would not have been called that or she would have been horribly ridiculed. I would let him decide as an adult if he wants to be a King :).
