I'm looking into a 1 bedroom apt., for 2 people, no washing machine, no dishwasher, just reg. TV/PC/appliances, regular people - work all day, home at night. Can anyone give me a head's up as to how much I might be looking to spend a month on electric? I'm from Miami and here I spend about $200 a mo. but that's with central AC. I'm just trying to come up with some type of a little estimate/budget. I'm mostly concerned about winter's ave. because I know summer will go up with AC units. And if anyone has any advice as to where I can search [online] for apts. cheap, that'd be nice.

I live in a 2 bedroom apartment in Brooklyn with a roommate who's never home. I'm almost always here because I work at home. Honestly, I keep at least 4 lights on all the time, even when I'm not home. I keep a fan on all day long and the fridge is always plugged in (obviously). The TV is on a LOT as well. My computer is more on than off. As for other appliances, there's just the toaster oven and microwave. I seem to pay about $75-85/month on average. It can get pretty high in the summer with the AC but it's just a window unit.

The highest bill I ever had was for last July and it was $157. It was because the AC was blasting all day and night yet the apartment was still sweltering. The next month it was down to $104. There were two months in the spring where it was around $65 but I've never paid anything much lower than that. I don't have any 'extras' like a dishwasher, washing machine, etc..

Since I'm home a lot, my bill always seems to be higher than most of my friends who are never home. They seem to get monthly electric bills that are under $60/month. That seems to be about the average for a one bedroom apartment where the people are out all day long.
