I'm making a memory book for my best friend (we before kindergarten) (now we're almost 40!!) since her child died during delivery the only pictue available is that of him passed away. Well instead I was thinking a short psalm/prayer to represent this child's (she had named him Jack) brief moment in our lives would be suitable, or maybe someone has a better idea or suggestion?

Here are some prayers for the funeral of a baby: http://www.bl.co.nz/Funerals/Funeral_for_a_Baby.htm

Why do you need a short psalm or prayer for a child's Catholic funeral? Is the child aged 7 or under? If so, the baby will have the most beautiful Mass ever, called "Mass of the Angels" and only happens to those children who have died before age of reason. I have never been graced with attending such a Mass; as I have heard that it is beyond words, awe powering, and humbling, and is the only Catholic Requiem Mass that is actually 'happy'.

If you are looking for a psalm or prayer for the baby's actual burial, the Priest would be way better suited for this query as he would have all types of beautiful prayers to include for the family.

<> They do. The Church will carry a funeral for a miscarried toddler IF the kin needs one of those provider. <> certainly. i'm continually humored by those who insist on utilizing the time period "fetus" in an attempt to diminish the unborn's humanity. "Fetus' actually means "the more youthful interior the womb"! <> at present of idea, a clean life comes into being. <> Funeral rites are not to any extent further denied for the unborn who die in miscarriage. perhaps if extra Catholic moms and dads knew this and/or idea-about providing their unborn with a funeral, one of those element will be extra common.

When the disciples were arguing amongst themselves over who would be greater when the kingdom of heaven came, Jesus stopped them. He turned to a child and said, unless you become like this little child, you will not even enter the kingdom of heaven.

The Lord used a little one as an example of who would be in heaven; we can be assured that is where this dear child is.

Father, thank you for taking this baby into your arms. keeping it save from no more harm. It was not the babies time, so comfort this childs family. Mend the brokenhearts and heal the wounds that run so deep. Strengthen them and fill their voids with your love. Wipe away the tears. Bring peace to each and everyone, in Jesus name, Amen.
