In the Bible, in ancient times, in some cultures today - demons and angels seem to exist. So why don't we have them very much in North America? Any ideas/theories?

Science has explained some away as being something less than para-normal and has done such a good job that some para-normal things go undetected because it is explained away. The double sided sword of Reason. Someone with severe mental problems and personality disorders might have been called possessed in the ancient days. Someone who is possessed by a demon would be called mentally unstable in this day and age.

They are all around us. Evil has a long reach. I'm sure there are plenty of demons in our part of the world. Also many Angels. The Bible says we all have guardian angels and we should give them praise for all the good things that happen to us.

They are still around. Demons are disembodied spirits that work as Satan's agents. Satan can't be everywhere at once, so he has his demons out making the rounds. The angel of God are all around, they are ministering spirits and they help to restrict the demons from their destructive work, There is a limit to what God will allow.

Oh, they haven't gone anywhere. Even in ancient times, precious few people were privileged to see or converse with angels. As for demons, they do most of their work THROUGH us, and casually revealing themselves would undermine their mission. If you saw a demon, really saw it, you'd start praying to God pretty quick.

I think that they and the talking livestock are pissed at us for blending fabric. I hear that there are still some around though but they prefer the South. There still seems to be some demon possession going on down there. I've heard that Bible-thumping is just like a dog-whistle to them...

It's 2007, the intelligent people of the 21st century don't believe in mystical creatures. Tell me if you ever see an Angel though I'll have to tell Santa about it.

'Cause doctors don't diagnose people with "demonic possession". They recognize the REAL reason behind a symptom and/or syndrome.
