Does anyone know how many ounces a teaspoon of saffron weighs?
Or, does anyone know how much that would cost?
Thank you!

saffron is a fairly cheap & light spice in respect to how much you need to use in any dish. A teaspoon of saffron wouldn't even weigh an ounce. three tablespoons/saffron = 1 ounce. 1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons.

there would be many teaspoons in each ounce of saffron. It seems expensive, but it is sold by weight, and it is very light. Besides a little goes a long way. I bought an ounce a year ago and still have a fourth of it left, and I cook a good bit at home. Prices vary widely, when I worked in a restaurant I could get an oz for 35 bucks, though I have seen it for twice that price.

What recipe calls for a teaspoon of saffron? That seems a bit much unless you are cooking huge batches. For the usual home recipe a small pinch is enough.

I have never seen a recipe call for more than a pinch of saffron. It is really not too expensive when you compare the small ammount that you use.

You can generally find saffron at far lower prices in ethnic markets, especially Middle Eastern and Hispanic. Don-t buy it at the supermarket or at "gourmet" stores.
