My son just saved my neighbors kitty from a pack of dogs. She is a sweet beautiful kitty but she is really really hurt. She has deep punctures looking like they are in her middle.and near her rear end.
There was a ton of blood. We put her in a kennel and hunted the neighbor down but it took us 2 hours to find them. She tried to stand and come out of the kennel but couldnt get far and turned and went back in the kennel. She also urinated all over herself in the kennel. What are her odds of survival? I really hope she makes it!

Also, I WISH I could have taken her to the vet before I found her owner but I didnt have the money and it's after hours and I had to locate a 24 hour vet, And I was waiting for my daughter to call so I could pick her up from a movie. (I am not leaving my 13 year old daughter standing out in the cold waiting for me) there was too much going on. The best I could do was make the cat comfortable and try to locate the owners.

I can't tell you her chances because I have noyt seen her injuries but I can tell you that if she survives your son and you saved her life and if she does not she is at least getting care and knew that she was safe from the dogs and was not left out to be killed or die without care. Thank you for what you did for her. God bless you.

PS I do understand that heartbreaking as it feels you did have to put your child's safety first before your neighbor's pet.

you said she is at the vet with the neighbors?

If the cat is the vet then you did the best thing....hope and pray and when the vet calls let them know the truth. If you cannot care fr this cat then ask the vet to call a no - kill shelter in your area and they will be glad to rescue it.

Let me elaborate...I volunteer for a no kill shelter in Baltimore, MD .. we don't have a lot if funds..but...we will go out of our way to help that cat. The vet, if reputable, will work with the shelter.

Please do not cal ASPCA -- they will euthanize.

No offense but you should have taken her to the vet before finding her owners she would have a better chance at survival, most vet clinics have funds for injured stray animals, but as it sounds she has some strength and a strong will to pull through, best of luck to her I hope that she gets well.

You did the right thing to jump in and help this cat. Now it's up to the owners of her. I admire you very much for taking this cat into your care. I hope kitty will be okay, but, remember, your son did his deed by rescuing this cat and you also did yours by trying to help her. I hope she makes it.

My mom's cat survived 2 big puncture wounds in his side; plus a cracked pelvis; and he's not full grown. As long as the vet cleans the wounds thoroughly; she should be ok. You most likely will be given antibiotics for her to take; make sure she takes it all!

having done cat rescue for a number of years i would say pretty good, my own cat is a miracle cat who survived a deep belly puncture if she is at the vet and gets on antibiotics i think shell be ok, as long as her organs werent hit

just think positive, that is all you can do

You were so kind to do as much as you did. I'm not vet and didn't see her, so I couldn't even guess about her survival, but I will pray about this kitty.

As you know, cats have "9 lives". They are very good healers. If there are no chest punctures, the cat will be OK.
