Everywhere I go I am always noticing resemblances such as mothers and daughters or grandmothers, daughters, grandaughters, or fathers and sons or daughters. I see a family together and I look for like features, body builds, expressions.
does anybody think this kind of thing is interesting? I just find it amazing.

I am adopted, so i notice things like this maybe a little more than some. I was always looking for people who looked like they could be my bio. parents. Oddly enough, my adoptive aunt (ad. mother's sis) and i look, or at least did look a lot like each other. People often thought we were mother and daughter or sisters.

The man who was the adoption agent (who became a family friend) saw a picture of a baby at my parents' house and commented on what a good photo of me it was. My mother said, "That's my sister when she was a baby". He was astonished. I have located my birth mother, so i know that it's not my aunt, as i thought for a long time.

When my son was born he looked exactly like my husband. I was so disappointed. I had gone through 3 days of back labour and then a c-section and he looked nothing like me! I think that because of being adopted, it was more important to me than normal. But now that he's 15, he looks much more like me and this started when he was about in grade 6 & 7. I remember looking at his fingers and toes though, when he was born, and they did look like mine. But that was it.

What i think is really cool is when people look like others in their family who are a few generations back. It's one thing to look like your parents/siblings, but to look like a grandparent or great-grandparent, that's what i think is cool too.

I do that all the time. One time me and my best friend were at a club(this was some years ago) and a young gentleman asked if he could sit at the table with us, so we said yes. Well he was very talkative, and after awhile I stopped paying attention to what he was saying, but the way that he pronounced some of his words made me think about my best friend's sister's boyfriend. Even though he did not look anything like her boyfriend, his speech was a definite match. Well I told my friend to ask him if he had a brother named ______. Which is her sister's boyfriend. And sure enough he said yes. So then my friend asked him "Who is his girlfriend?" (Now my best friend's sister name is Diane.) He said "Diana, and also two other girl's name.) My friend had told me that Diane said that her boyfriend was indeed cheating on her and they had gotten into arguments about it. Well that just confirmed it. And just to make sure we asked for descriptions of his brother and Diana as he called her. And sure enough we had a match.

I think it's interesting. Every time I go to a family function, I am told I look like some different relative - always amusing! Genetics is a very intriguing phenomenon, isn't it?
