The skin around your eye area is sensitive so scrubbing would not be a good idea.
If you didn't get enough sleep: try an ice pack for a few minutes in the morning and sleep a bit earlier than usual.
If you still looked depressed than you can lighten your face by shaving off your beard and mustache. (for males only)
DO NOT rub your eyes too much in an outward direction starting from your nose towards your ears.
INSTEAD use your ring finger (the finger between pinky and middle finger) and rub inwards towards your nose. This will also help reduce wrinkles in years to come.
If you are guy find a strong cream to use once a week for dark circles.
If you are girl try not to use too much cream it will only make it worse later on.
Ask your doctor if the dark circles are hereditary. My sister and I have dark circles but we find other ways to make us seem less tired and depressed. Shaving and keeping the face clean is how we deal with it.

Good Luck

There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:
Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

The best solution is to try and get more sleep. Most likely, lotion will not reduce their appearance, and excessive scrubbing will only irritate the skin around your eyes and could possibly make them worse. Also, if these circles make your eyes appear "puffy", you should apply an ice pack until the swelling reduces.

1. Get some beauty sleep
2. Cucumbers usually do the job
3. Before you go to bed, take a washcloth and wet it just a bit with cold water. Then squeeze out any excess water and place it over your eyes as you sleep.

Don't scrub EVER! You can camouflage them by applying cover cream or go the beauty counter in your department store and ask the cosmetician she might be able to suggest an eye cream that can help.

the only solution is makeup if you have have them always, that problem may be genetic. If you just noticed them recently, probably the only thing you need is good rest. If you have puffy eyes that do not dissapear with rest then you might try cold teabags to cool your eyes and if they are still there, that means you have accumulated fat under your eyebags and the only solution is surgery.

Sleep helps, get regular sleep. Cucumber slices over the eyes, just left there for a while, is supposed to help (never tried it, but considered it- I bags under my eyes).

U need 8 hours of sleep, drink enough water, and for now you can use a reflective cream so it doesn't appear like u're depressed.
This is what you need.
