I have two questions regarding digital cameras.

I am going to purchase a digital camera before this summer starts here. I was hoping someone could point me to a camera model (or models) that can take photos quickly, a small camera, long battery life, and can hold a lot of photos. Megapixels are not that huge of a deal since I know photo quality comes from the lense.

Now my second question is, is it true that only SLR digital cameras can take a photo instantly?

Thanks.

No, point and shoot digital cameras can take photos instantly also and take just as good quality also. Compact camera brands I recommend are the Panasonic Lumix series or the Canon digicams like the SD600. You won't find a camera with a lot of internal memory storage, so you'll have to buy a memory card for plentiful storage.

DPreview.com and Cnet.com are good sites to look for reviews. Customer reviews on electronic sites (e.g. Circuit City) are good for information also. If you'd like to see image quality samples, Flickr.com's Camerafinder feature is handy.

Since you're going to purchase a digital camera before summer, and if you're based in USA, I'd recommend buying a camera during the Memorial Day weekend sale because you'll save some money that you can use for camera accessories such as the necessary memory card, camera case, tripod, etc.

well storing the pictures is not an affect of the camera but rather of the memory stick so if you wont to hold alot of pictures buy an after market memory stick an SD 2gig stick will cost around $50 and will hold about 5000 pictures at a high quality and in my experience hp makes the best cameras for the money

p.s the battery's will last a wile if you get the e2 energizers any other and the flash will kill them after 4 or 5 pictures

A lot of the new compact cameras are pretty instantaneous.

Check www.dpreview.com as they have a lot of honest evals, and a very good feature selector to help in your search.

DSLR's just take better pics than compacts due to the much larger sensor size. Small size or quality, that's your choice.
