Why do so many women have problems with the male authority. The bible talks about submitting. That does not mean the man is to take advantage of the women but many women think it means that when it does not.

If the man is being led by God, it should be easy for the woman to be led by, or to submit to, that man.

I would say only when the authority given is being abused.

As humans, men cannot help but abuse this authority as they are still flesh and blood just as we women will cringe when a man feels the eartly desire to tell us that we must submit at the same time he is forgetting to submit himself to Jesus Christ

Now , for the flaw in your statement. Women are never told in the bible to submit to men. This would cause havoc and death among many other things.

Women are told to submit to their husbands, not the male species.

Imagine women having to submit to all men. My husband would be mighty upset if he came home and found me submitting in any way to a different male.

There is no such thing as "male" authority. All are equal, and that makes the world a nice place. Back in the day, when Christianity ruled the world, women were forced to submit to men. They couldn't vote, they couldn't hold office, they had no say in the choices made in their own life, they couldn't keep a job, and they were completely dependent on men for everything. All this was done in the name of God and the preachings of the Bible.
No one can say this is right. No one should have to submit to another.

Because it's an outdated patriarchal idea that was used to keep women under control and in line. No surprise men have no issues with it.

In that day, women had no choices about who they would marry. At 12, 13, 14... they were married off by their fathers, often to older men who they did not know. If they were abused, and probably they were, they tried to leave or rebel or go home. So Paul tried to get that situation under control by preaching the submissive wife / servant leader husband idea.

It's not necessary in this day and age when women have choices about who they marry and when.

Actually a woman being submissive to her husband was a curse God put on Eve and all women along with pain in childbearing.
I recently restudied this Gen. scripture and realized what it was saying-it is a curse. So-now,as ever, women, even unknowingly, rebel at male authority-however, remember God values women as much as men-we are created equal but someone has to be the "chief" and men have abused their "position"-no wonder fewer women are opting to get maried now as recently reported in the newspaper.

Men, after they get the gal in marriage, never respect her for all she does and who she is (read proverbs)-Jesus never put down women.

Probably because MANY men have tried telling women it does mean that. My father is a fine example...he's was always trying to lord over her because that is what the bible said, yet he conveniently forgot the part about being faithful.

"In Christ, there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female."

If you look at the verses that talk about not allowing women to talk or teach in church, you'll find that pretty much uniformly it's Paul, and he always says "but as for me, I do not allow..." etc. That leads some of us, at least, to conclude that we're not talking about something from God, but rather a cultural thing, given Paul's history and all. There are many other verses - such as the one I quoted above - that make it clear that God considers us all equal, and that's good enough for me.

Note: there is a lot more that could be said about this, and I have barely begun to express my opinion on this, but I doubt anyone would want to read the whole thing.

I believe the man is the head of the household, but only if he treats his wife with the utmost respect, including very much listening to and considering her advise. If he does not do so, he is not worthy of the position. The man himself should rule with meekness, love unfeigned, and persuasion rather than force or using his authority to dominate. If he does not do so, he is abusing his position.

I am very grateful that the Lord has an order of things and that he does say that wifes should submit to their husbands. There is a freedom in doing that which is wonderful once you experiance it.

Gee...uh.... maybe it's got something to do with the verse that says women shouldn't be allowed to talk in church.... or that other verse that says women shouldn't be allowed to teach men because they aren't smart enough....

Nah... that can't be it. Women must just be stupid.
