I was supposed to call someone the other day and I just remembered what should I tell them?

You forgot until just now and thats why you are just calling. Honesty is the best way. Dont make something up just tell them what really happened. Im sure they will understand.

A good reason to tell them the truth is because you don't want to be known as a liar or someone whom people can't trust to tell the truth. Also, you have more respect for yourself to tell the truth. You also have developed courage within yourself to tell the truth and if people can't accept it then that's their problem and not yours and you should therefore move on.

Be honest. Admit that you forgot, and be sure to explain that you were busy. It's better to call them late than never. Most people are happier to hear the truth than anything else. Excuses make them angry.

well yeah some girls are bit.... some girl yesterday said shed promise to call me back guess what she didnt but in your case just tell him that atleast you called him today
