I don't disagree entirely that liberals are just as guilty of telling people what they should do. But, why the insults?? Seems like the ones telling others to grow up are the pots calling the kettle black. If you're answer is out of anger, don't bother. and the holier than thou comment?? You don't even know me!

They believe in Authority. Authority involves Conformity. It's called the Social Contract or something. If someone does something outside of the Norm, the Conservatives feel threatened because they think if one guy can make his own rules, the whole flock might disintegrate into self-interest instead of following the Authority. Being a non-Comformist is a threat to their idea of society. So, instead of just ignoring those who do their own thing, they want to make an example and show the flock that their Authority is all-encompassing. After all, they reason, if they let anyone do whatever they want, their Authority will become nothing but a bull-headed idea and they would have no power over their fellow man. That's why they stick their nose into someone else's business. They hate freedom.

What we Martians don't understand is why your ancestors of the U.S. did not listen to George Washington when he said a divided nation is bad business. He was correct.
