Leaving on trip on Sunday morning. Have alot to do before I go. Should I stay awake and pack or go to bed and get some rest? I have to drive for 7 hours on Sunday with two small children.

You might want to drive at night - just pack up the car during the day and when the kids drop off, put them in the car & go. There's less traffic & the kids usually sleep well in a moving vehicle.

I am also a person who can sleep better if all the stuff is done, otherwise I lay there and think about it all and it's pointless to try to sleep. So, it depends on what kind of person you are.

Have you considered changing when you leave... many people with small children will leave in the EARLY morning while the kids are asleep so they sleep most of the way there. Something to consider. But, if you do that, have someone come over and watch them so you can get a good nap in so you can be very awake to drive.

Well I'm going on a 12 hour drive from SC to OH tomorrow night, with 2 lil ppl myself. (3 & 5) I'm doing my laundry and packing some things tonight. I've got piles around the house of things that go in the car and in the trunk. I like to do get as much done as I can before the lil ppl wake. I'm making my list of things and I'll check it again tomorrow while I'm packing things together. We do this trip about 4 to 5 times a year and I haven't forgotten anything yet!

Please, get some sleep. Also, have you made a to do list? No, don't stay up tonight to do the to do list either. In the morning, please make your to do list, and as you do each thing, cross it off your list. Please, don't Overdo. And, on Sat. Night--get to bed to get enough sleep for your 7 hour drive with two small children on Sunday. You need your rest--you will be able to think more clearly, concnetrate far better, and be able to handle the long drive, with the two children a whole lot easier (on them as well as on you) by allowing yourself the sleep you need. I also request that on this drive, you allow yourself (and the children) a few breaks, at rest stops, etc. for potty breaks, something to eat and drink. I trust you will have books for them to read, paper and crayons, things like that to help keep them occupied for the drive. Enjoy! and Take care.

Give yourself at least 9 hours of rest before your trip. Don't put yourself or your children in danger just to get those few extra pairs of socks or toiletry...And when you wake up, Get the kids to help, make it a game or something, lol, age depending of course.

If you just get a few hours of sleep, a nap, you will be much more efficient. Right now you are too tired to pack right. You are slow now, and you will forget important things. Get some sleep.

I find that it always works best to make a list of the things you think you may forget (i.e toothbrush, cell charger), go to sleep, then pack tomorrow morning, checking the list as you go.

You might sleep better if you get everything done ASAP... I hope you have a good and safe trip!
