I've studied the matter, and in short, no, it won't mess up the gun beyond a simple required cleaning, if this isn't a regular habit.

The wad will leave plastic fouling on the threads, and if you make a habit of leaving the choke out (which you shouldn't), you may start to eventually round off the threads.

Regardless, I highly suggest you put a choke tube in - they make cylinder chokes if you want a wide pattern, and full chokes for dence ones. With all the constrictions from -.005 to .045 (and tighter), there is no reason to leave the choke out of a threaded barreled shotgun.

Yes!! Do not shoot it without a choke tube in. Just because other people got careless and came out okay, doesn't mean you will. It is highly likely to mess up the threads. You will probably be buying a new barrel.

DO NOT shoot the gun without a choke tube in it. If you shoot it without chokes in it, then it will probably permanently damage the threads that secure the choke tube.

Its not recommended to shoot a gun without a choke,it may damage the threads or foul them.I would not shoot it without one in the barrel.
