"I do NOT believe gravity exists, therefor it doesn't."

(okay - so who agrees with that??)

If you say no, than what relevance is it if a Wiccan does/doesn't acknowledge the existance of Satan?

Does it mean he doesn't exist?

I mean seriously, in the future wiccan friends; Don't use the argument that Wiccan isn't from Satan because Satan is a Christian concept, not a Wiccan...It's like saying Gravity don't exist simply because I 'choose' not to admitt it's there.

10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in [a] the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.

Wiccan does fit certain descriptions found in these verses, even if it doesn't include all these traits. (I'm not saying you sacrifice things/people, etc...but Wiccans do worship the earth, and earthly things...which is a creation, not God!!!)

Therefor it is idolatry.

Amalthea, the point about Gravity wasn't meant literally. It was meant to be more like an attention grabber. Just for the record, I do believe in Gravity.

What I'm saying is: It's just as ridiculous to say Gravity doesn't exists, as it is to deny the existence of Satan.

Afterall - If there was no evil, than what would define 'good' ?

(To every force, there's an opposing force.)

I think it's unreal how desperately Wiccan supporters are 'grasping at straws' in order to dance around this statement. Isn't it easier for you just to write you dissagree?

Sincere thank you to all of those who have enlightened me to the various definitions of witchcraft, pagan worshipping, wiccan definitions, etc...However, and I need to make this case in point: I still believe it's NOT of God. Therefor, I do not condone it.

You cannot change truth simply by refusing to believe it.

Since the Christian religion is based on faith, faith that you are right, faith that you weren't lied to, so too does you belief about Satan hinge upon this. You do not have tangible proof to substantiate the "Arch-fiends existence.

Wiccans choose to base our path on the belief that man makes his own good and evil, it is not supplied from without, it comes from within.

"10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in [a] the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead...." The verse you site deals with such people living among the Hebrews, are you Jewish? If you are going to point out that the laws are to be followed by Christians, if you follow some, shouldn't you be following them all?

Wiccans do not worship the earth, we have reverence for it, the Earth is after all the mother of us all, reverence is not worship. Really, you should spend a bit more time finding out what Wiccan actually do, instead of relying on hearsay.

Ooh. You're not being very open, here. Have you considered that maybe Satan does not exist, and therefore Wicca would not come from Satan? Don't use the argument that Wicca is from Satan, because Satan isn't a Wiccan concept, not a Christian. You're assuming that you're absolutely correct and what you believe is undoubtable.

Absolutely do not compare Satan to gravity. We know gravity is true. We know it exists. We don't know that Satan does. Do you see the difference?

Update: to match your response to Sheridan: There is no observable effect that could leave evidence for the existence of Satan. Gravity happens all the time. Christians believe Satan is real, great, go do that. Most people don't, because there's no logical reason to believe that.

There is a difference.. gravity has been proven to exist and is a theory just like evolution. Satan/Gods etc have not been proven to exist therefore saying they do not exist is truth as far as we know it. Wicca isnt from satan because it has nothing to do with that.. how can people who do not believe in something that has never been proven to exist be worshipping that figment?? What you are saying makes no sense... and if I recall correctly from every single argument on here by christians.. they say... the bible says god exists therefore he does.. thats alot more ignorant and idiotic than saying " The religion of wicca is not based on any christian concept of god or satan and in practice has nothing to do with it because we do not believe in satan"

Also christians are always saying... "Evolution is just a theory" and yet here you are using a scientific THEORY(of gravity) to try and prove that wiccans are unknowingly worshipping the devil in spite of the fact they do not believe in god and dont follow the bible..

I am not wiccan, I am not anything, I am myself... if loving and revering the earth is somehow "idolatry" I dont really give a ***** because I dont believe in god or satan.. and unlike the theory of gravity god and satan have no proof of their influence or existence. I love this earth and all its creatures and I respect and revere the earth as the womb of all life. Stop trying to make it seem like everyone who believes different than you is somehow serving your devil because its petty and ignorant.

PS not everything has an opposing force... Light for example.. you may say darkness is the opposing force to light but in reality darkness is merely the absence of light.... just as evil is merely the absence of good. Also I would like to add that evil is a purely human concept and does not truly exist in the natural world. Nothing is evil in nature... some humans are evil only because they have forsaken nature and created an absence of good within themselves.

Seriously..... that's not true for all Pagan religions.

http://www.neopagan.net/Pagan_Glossary.html
Devil:
A minor spirit perceived as a force for evil.
Devil, The:
“Heir of Man,” originally the Evil God of the Zoroastrians; later a creation of Christian and Islamic theologians (who called him Satan and Shaitan) consisting of old fertility gods, wisdom spirits and nature elementals combined with Ahriman into a figure of terror and malevolence fully equal to that of that Good God (Jehovah or Allah); the deity worshiped by Neogothic Witches.

When Catholics pray to the saints, are they not consulting with the dead?
There are Witches in Witchcraft, Christian Witches, Jewish Witches (more often called Mystics), Satanic Witches, Voodoun Witches and many more. Each of these religions use the label witch, or variations, to describe a person who includes magik as part of their beliefs and practices.

Many suggest that Witchcraft is an "Earth based religion", which it is, but this is actually a minor definition. Witchcraft is a 'Universal' based religion, believing in the seen and unseen forces in all nature here on Earth and in the greater universe. It is a religion of honor and respect for all living things.

Using your own logic there is no way for you to say that there isn't an infinite amount of Gods and Goddesses and an infinite amount of worlds upon which lives sentient entities.

On another of your sayings: Satan is a later day persona inserted in the Bible as a real monster rather than a concept of evil well after the death of all who knew Jesus.

I find it sad that Christians have to have a monster to scare themselves and try to scare others. Every thinking human can understand the concept of evil, though some ignore it. Christians are so in need of fear they need more than concepts.

Wicca is a rebirth of old religions and practices. Read some classics from before your new testament and you'll find no Satan even amongst the Hebrews. As an example read Hesiod's Theogeny a study and history of God's long before Jesus existed.

What is your personal sadness is that you speak of things and happenings of which you have no true knowledge or experience and slander a gentle religion to support your bloody one.

(Keep in mind, I'm not Wiccan, just Nondenominational Pagan, but this still applies)

Then why, pray tell, were the wise men reading OMENS IN THE STARS?
Also, where did all the prophesysing in the bible come from if it's so evil?

The way I look at it, being a Pagan doesn't mean you worship the creations, you honor the Creator through It's Creations.

Now, I think your book says something about who should be casting stones... why don't you go read it and maybe follow the main teachings of the person who you strive to live your life by their teachings.

Edited to add....
Nope, I'm not just grasping, I got a handful of them right here........
now where's that camel.....

You wrote: ".but Wiccans do worship the earth, and earthly things...which is a creation, not God!!!)"

This is a common misconception, so I don't blame you for it. Wiccans, at least as I was taught, don't worship nature per se. We believe that the universe is the body of God/dess, and therefore that all things contain Divine energy and that the world itself is sacred.

There can be no separation from God/dess. All things not only proclaim Their glory, but ARE Their glory. It's therefore more accurate to say that we worship the Divine as manifest in nature; we worship the Creator, IN the Creation.

And I understand that from your POV, we are indeed Satan worshippers. But using your own argument, the fact that you believe it doesn't necessarily make it so. :-)

(I also recognize that my attempt to educate you about what we actually do and believe will probably fall on deaf ears... but hey ho, that's how it goes.)

Blessed be.

There is no evil, and there is no good. Those are human creations invented so that humans can understand their world. Nothing in the world can prove the existence of pure good or pure evil. It doesnt exist.

Gravity on the other hand, is rather well proven, not to mention that you can test it anytime you want. In fact, youre testing it right now but dont notice it.

"I believe the invisible pink unicorn exists, therefore it does."

Do you acknowledge the existence of this creature? If not, then does the same concept not apply to you? Simply because you say that it doesn't exist doesn't make it so.

What is the relevance if you don't acknowledge the existence of the invisible pink unicorn? Does that mean she doesn't exist? Simply because you 'choose' not to admit she's there?

Come on. This is the most tired out argument in the history of religious debate. You can easily flip it around to justify the existence of anything ... as I did with the IPU.

Wiccans are not Christians. The verse 10 that you quote does not apply to them. It applies to the family of God. Notice the words "among you". The verse acknowleges the fact that there are those that practice these evils. The body of Christ should not have people in their fellowship that participate in these evils.
