Ah, Jeez, i feel your pain. My husband and i both quit on new years eve. This is not our first attempt, but we're hoping it will be out last. I patched it for about a week and a half until one day i forgot to change it and when i realized i had went a day drawing no nicotine from the one i had on, i figured might as well skip the patch. My husband used the gum for 2 weeks, and coming on the end he thought it was giving him headaches.; I don't know if there are any new technology's out there, but you need will power, and a reason. The will power part truly does get better everyday, For us we knew our kids were a good reason to stop. For myself i also drew on work experience, working in a hospital i see people everyday on oxygen gasping for breath, and cancer patients out having one more smoke before rest period. The bottom line is every smoker will tell you they are stupid, but just can't seem to quit. This may seem lame, but i think the power of prayer or focus can really produce good results. All i can tell you is this is the easiest go we have had at quitting, and i hope you decide the time is right for you and you have success. You just have to decide you are truly ready and a little thing , smaller than your FINGER does not have control over you. I have faith in you, you can do it.

Hearing the decision to quit from you, yourself is very rewarding and could warrant a higher rate of success if you would not fall into temptation to smoke again. However, quitting does not happen overtime. It takes time-days, weeks, or perhaps even months. First of all I would suggest that you get rid of any cigarettes that is still in your possession and stay away from it. Also it is advisable to chew on something like a gum for instance to keep your mouth busy especially when you have these cravings for nicotine. Moreover, involve your family in your decision to stop smoking for they are the ones who can help you manage your problem and keep track of you whenever temptations knocks at your door. Try to keep yourself busy like focus more on your hobbies and things that you enjoy aside from smoking. By the way, have you tried nicotine patches? If no, you might wanna check on that. I hear it works. If the day would pass without you touching that cigar then you should always congratulate yourself. Good luck and hoping the best for you...

I had trouble quitting for years and wanted to quit badly.
I went to a group hypnosis seminar and it worked very well.
After about two weeks the habit was gone.
You have to replace the habit of smoking with a different habit. I started drinking more water and running.
That was in January 2001. I have finished three Chicago marathons since then and have never smoked another cigarette nor wanted one.

TRY TO CHEW GUM IN THE MORNING AND FIND A CIGARETTE SIZED OBJECT TO HOLD IN BETWEEN YOUR FINGERS UNTILL YOU CAN BREAK THE HABBIT OF HOLDING THINGS IN YOUR HAND EX: TAKE A WHITE BIC PEN REMOVE THE INSIDES OF THE PEN SO YOU DON'T MARK YOUR CLOTHING AND REMOVE BOTH PLACTIC END PEICES SO ALL THAT IS LEFT IS THE WHITE TUBE PART.
THEN TAKE ONE OF YOUR CIGARETTES AND MEASURE IT
BESIDE THE PEN TUBE AND CUT THE PEN TUBE TO MATCH THE LENGTH OF THE CIGARETTE. KEEP THIS IN AN EMPTY PACK OF CIGARETTES IN YOUR PURSE! THE OBJECT IS TO FOOL YOUR BRAIN INTO THINKING THAT YOU ARE ACTUALLY HOLDING A CIGARETTE!!! I AM TOLD THAT AFTER 24 HRS TO A WEEK YOU ARE FREE FROM THE ADDICTION OF NICOTINE THEN AFTER THAT WHEN YOU FEEL THAT YOU HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THE FAKE CIGARETTE THROW IT AWAY BE CAREFULL WHEN USING THE FAKE CIGARETTE DON'T SUCK THROUGH IT TOO MUCH OR IT WILL CAUSE YOU TO GET LIGHT HEADED!!! USE THE GUM FOR HAVING SOMETHING IN YOUR MOUTH AND THE FAKE CIGARETTE FOR HAVING SOMETHING IN YOUR HANDTHAT SHOULD WORK!!! AND WHEN YOU ARE LYING IN BED AND CRYING AT NIGHT TRY PRAYING !!! IT HELPS TO STOP THE CRYING AND FIND HOPE!!! ALSO TRY TO DO THAT IN THE MORNING AND ASK FOR THE STRENGTH TO MAKE THROUGH THE DAY CIGGARETTE FREE!!! REMEMBER THAT IT IS AN ADDICTION YOU ARE FIGHTING AND YOU HAVE TO BE STRONG NOT TO PICK UP AGAIN! PEOPLE WHO HAVE SUCESSFULLY QUIT SAY THAT YEARS LATER A CIGARETTE SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA AND SMELLS WONDERFULL. THAT IS ANOTHER GOOD TIME TO PRAY FOR STRENGTH AND HOPE!!! I WAS TOLD THIS BY A FRIEND ... THAT I PICKED UP MY ADDICTION! NO ONE STUCK A GUN TO MY HEAD! I CAN PUT DOWN WHATEVER I PICKED UP!!! EVEN IF YOU DON'T PRAY, I'LL SAY A PRAYER FOR YOU TONITE!!!!

try to keep yourself away from ciggerets, try a week get away to the mountains or something where you dont have access to them.... besides that i can only suggest the common things such as keeping yourself busy, gum, nicotine patches and so forth... i'm sorry if i'm not much help but its an addiction and different people get over them different ways... really make the dedication to yourself that you can not continue........... i know its not that easy but its all i can say... good luck and i hope you suceed
