If you want to use Windows supplied software to burn your disc - insert the blank CD into the drive. Browse for the folder where your backup is. Right click on the folder - choose send to (whatever drive letter your CD/RW is) (usually 'D') You will get the balloon message - "file waiting to be copied" -click the balloon - click on the file - click burn the CD.
System Restore is run through Start/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. I doubt very much if you can roll your system back that far.
Personally - I think System Restore is NOT the way to go. If you are having problems that virus scans or Ad removal programs can't get rid of - format and start over.

I am assuming you are using windows xp. For step 2 go here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084. It explains on how to use system restore. For step 1. If you have a cd burner just use a cd to store your pictures and word documents while you do your system restore.

An easy way is find all the files you want to save, select them, and right-click send to cd.

But I would seperate them by cd, or folders, depending on how many you have.
