It comes from traditions of a male dominated society which want to keep woman on a leash.

May the peace, blessings and mercy of Allah be upon you
Firstly, sister you shouldn't be talking to this boy about these things, he probably doesn't have very good intentions.
But to answer your question, for anything that is forbidden in Islam (alcohol, gambling, pork, fornication) is simply because God has asked us not to do these things.
And he knows what is better for us, look at what sex before marriage has done to the society, there are teens girls with kids, so many children with only one parent who sometimes don't even know their father.
Intercourse without marriage, is a MAJOR SIN, we should stay away from Satan's handiwork
and always seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast
Peace Be With You

It is not just Islam that forbids fornication, most religions do. It is because sex is a sacred act. It is a bonding between a man and woman that can result in the creation of a new life. Committment and caring brought about by marriage are more likely to give that child and the parents a stable environment.

Its banned or at least discouraged in all western religons. It shouldnt be too hard to understand - none of the western religons encourage sex outside of marriage for the same reasons. All these religous texts were written long ago and confining sex to married couples ensured paternity and who would support and care for the children. It was meant to define the family and societal roles for husbands and wives. Keep in mind at the time these books were all written people were married adults by thier mid-teens!

It is not just sex "before" marriage but sex "outside" marriage. and it is not only Islam but all religions forbids this. Family is unit of social fabric and if there is no family values then the society will disintegrate. There will be many teen mothers, father less children, single parents etc which will lead to many other social problems.

I am ALSO Muslim-though I try to be respectful and appreciative of other faiths and peoples' preferences.
I have seen couples enjoined either forcefully in arranged marriages OR in marital unions where each other are complete strangers, and LOVE hardly ever occurs.
I have seen other people of ALL faiths (including Muslim) who enjoy relationships OUTSIDE of marriage who DO fall in love.
What I am declaring is is this: marriage doesnt automatically equal love.
So would being trapped in either a marriage of convenience where LOVE is non-existent make SEX almost immoral?

Shamma, don't bother. He is trying to GET sex. He is trying to find a way to break down your defenses. The more he talks to you, the more ways he will find to try. Eventually, he will find ways to get you to base your self-esteem, your image of yourself, on whether you please or satisfy his curiosity, his questions, and will hold you emotionally hostage until he gets what he wants. He isn't interested in Islam, or this wouldn't even be an issue. He wants what he wants, AND he wants to explore something strange to him. This is not a call of God, it is a call of his hormones.
Tell him you will introduce him to someone at your mosque that can answer his question. Watch him run when you actually get to the date and time and he takes off. Make sure your parents are there. Be safe.
I am not part of Islam, and am an opponent to their aims for the world. However, I have read many of the holy books of Islam and admire many aspects of it. Know your religion well. Read the books.
Educate yourselves, everyone. Keep speaking up.

Now just imagine that two partners were to sign a contract to make a company....would it be logical if they've declared themselves a company before signing the contract? Would it be allowed to share each other's money before that? In front of the law, would they be a company before signing?
Sex is lawful during marriage. Before marriage is outside of marriage. Sex outside marriage is sternly prohibited in Islam. I believe Judaism and Christianity agree with Islam on that; even though many Christians may not agree...or even shall find it very weird.

Easy, because it says so. Sex is (supposedly) sacred and should only be done between a man & a woman who are joined in marriage. It's not that deep. Most religions say that sex outside of marriage is a no no.

Because its suppose to be a major dishonor for the family of the de-flowered girl, and technically speaking a woman found to be unchaste before marriage is supposed to be put to death.
