i just painted my living/dining room last weekend with a beigey color i love, but its looking a little blah now. couch is purple, chair and 1/2 and is army green, side chair purple. white trim and dark mohagany tv armoire, sofa table and book case. curtains are a darker beige chenille. anyone have an idea for an accent color? i was thinking red, but i'd like some other options. i'd like to bring in this color with pillows, accessories and artwork. specific items much appreciated. thank you!

Wow, you're bold.

The only other color that comes to mind would be a slate blue. The blue would tie into the purple and the slate would tie into the army green.

Otherwise, the army green is headed for the dump.

Google the color wheel and you will see that if you form a triangle with purple and green being two points on the triangle that the third point is red-orange. This is a good "pop" color for your decor as it will wake up those beige walls without overwhelming. A couple of candles, maybe a nice large ceramic vase or even some glase vases with single blooms ( I'm thinking Gerbera Daisies in that warm orangey red hue ) would be terrific accents. Have fun! :)

These are great colors already. You can use deep Burgundy or a light lilac. If you are a pink kinda girl, you possibly could use pink... just try and use the same shade of pink as the shade of purple. You could use an indigo blue, since this falls exactly in between purple and green on the color wheel. You actually could use a crisp clean white, but you would have to probably change the window coverings to white. I think you should use Burgundy with the furniture and curtains that you have described. I also think since you choose purple and green you must have great taste.... these are my two favorite colors to be used together!

Love your colors! Now just put that red in there and it's going to pull together perfectly. Stay away from yellow...too mild for that combination. You need hot and spicy with that combo or you'll wash it out completely.
