Did Michael make a wrong choice by wanting to leave DEI? I think he did, If he wouldnt have left DEI, he wouldnt be having such a bad time in NASCAR. What do you guys think?

I like Mikey, he's a great personality.....but 452 races before his 1st win, then only winning on restrictor plate tracks where talent is not the most important thing?....c'mon, leaving DEI was good for both him and the company. Mikey is not a great NASCAR driver, but he is a cool guy.

No. Michael was clearly the B team at DEI. His age and racing record were not in his favor in today's NASCAR scheme. If it hadn't been for DW we might not have even heard of Mike. Mike won't lose any money with his new team and position. The mental toll however might be the dear price he pays. There's a distinct difference in driving, breaking/crashing the car and saying give me another, as opposed to being the team owner and watching his teams do and say the same things that used to say.

i think he made a good choice in leaving, because DEI was screwing him over. He ran pretty well in 2005, when Jr. had a terrible year. This was after in the 2004 offseason, when DEI swapped teams and equipment between the 8 and 15. that same year, Jr. wrecked him in the coke 600, which looked so intentional. after that, i think around half-way, they swapped the equipment back. so really it was good for him to leave.

I don't think he had much choice, I think it was leave or get canned. It was well known through out the sport that Mrs. Earnhart didn't care for him and when Dale Sr hired him, she was quite upset as reported by mant writers.
