nice answers, but what do tennis balls do?

Theres blue spiky rubber balls in my closet, and i think they're supposed to be put in laundry, could i substitute that?

would the tennis ball smell rub into the jacket? cause i really dont want that to happen

The tennis balls do NOT make the jacket smell at all. They are to help "beat" the fluff back in, its an old trick nothing new there.

I certainly wouldn't use anything with spikes, tennis balls are rather smooth and won't snag the nylon shell.

Cold water, liquid detergent and delicate cycle dry (if you have). It also helps a lot to put 3-4 tennis balls in the dyer with the jacket to fluff or puff it up. Good luck! Works for me!

you can totally throw it in the washer and dryer just make sure you wash on gentle & dry on low heat check it often in the dryer & towards the end tumble with a couple of tennis balls a good quality down filled anything should last forever

check the tag on the inside of the jacket. It should tell you the proper way to clean it. that said, I have an eddie bauer jacket that is machine wash in warm and tumble dry low or dry clean.
