I am a former Marine who served in Viet Nam wondering how you feel about what your congress men/women (mostly Democrats) are saying about Pres. Bush's latest plan. Please share your thoughts--thank you, and thank you for standing tall and serving your nation.

PS...When I was fighting for this great country, in the 60's, I fully understood and supported being in Viet Nam.

I'm not there now but was back in 2004. Frankly those in congress calling for a pull out and acting like they are the commander in chief make me sick to my stomach. I don't so much mind the war protestors, that is part of what the US is all about. But all of this going on in congress has a lot more to do with the 2008 elections than it has to do with smart foreign policy.

I think it is time for the Iraqis to really stand on their own. I don't think a complete withdraw is smart at all, but our troops should get off the street corners and banging down doors and step back completely into a training and observing role.
The Democrats are doing what they believe is right, and making it plain and clear for history where they stand. It may be grandstanding, but that is American politics. If the shoe was on the other foot, the Republicans would do the same thing...
