Sounds like you're on the right track. Keep it up. Your blood pressure is pretty good too.

First, you need to do blood pressure checks over a period of time, not just once. The reason for that is the pressure changes throughout the day, due to exercise, or sitting, as well as eating, plus most people have a body pattern for pressure, so it will not be the same at 8AM as it is at 4PM

The numbers given are all within acceptable limits, but the 127 may be considered a bit high for someone 18 years old. Ten points lower would be preferable, but, as said, 127 is acceptable.

Sorry to put it so plainly, but giving a dress size is of no value to anyone, partly because it is not clear where you are. For instance, in North America there is no standard for sizing, so the same person who wears a size 13 from one manufacturer could wear a size 10 from a different one, or a 16 from another..

The two things you do mention that are important are that you are a bit overweight and that you are starting to exercise. The two suggest that you have not been very active until now, and that means your muscles, one of which is your heart, may need to get into better condition before you begin to overwork your body through strenuous exercise. A body, especially a soft body, that is suddenly thrown into hard work can be easily strained or hurt.

45 minutes of average-speed walking can probably be done quite safely, and will be good for you, but if your plan is to do really strenuous / hard exercise, you should have a medical check-up before you commence the program..

Blood pressures go up and down during the day and night. Anything can make your systolic pressure (the top number go up). It is still in a normal range.

If you are 5' 8" and wearing size 13 you are not too big. I use to think I was too big at size 13 and 5'7". Now I dream of those days.

I use to stay home thinking I was too big and didn't want people to see me at my size. Looking back now over 30 years later I realize that it didn't have to do with my size but my self esteem.

Find a qualified adult to talk to like a school counselor or a sliding scale therapist. You may not think this is a big deal but it is. Worrying about weight numbers, size numbers or blood pressure numbers is all the same thing.

Get out of the house and have fun. Leave the worrying about blood pressure to us old farts.

Blood pressure measurements don't count for anything if you've been walking around. Ideally, you should be sitting down for at least 5 minutes or so. Blood pressure also can vary during the day, so it's best to get measurements from similar times during the day. No caffeine in the morning either. These measurements should be repeated on a few separate occasions. Some people get "white coat hypertension" when they go to the doctor's office because they are nervous. Probably blood pressure medicines wouldn't kill you. But you don't necessarily need blood pressure medicines if your blood pressure is only high while active. When doctors study the effects of high blood pressure, they study the effects of people who are diagnosed with it as described above. You are probably at no higher cardiac risk from your blood pressure.

I think as long as there's at least a 40-point range between systolic (higher) and diastolic (lower) blood-pressure reading, medical professionals aren't alarmed. 120/80 is pretty standard blood pressure; I think 140/90 is the cutoff for high blood pressure, but I'm not sure.

You sound disgustingly healthy (that's good) :-) . If you have an HMO as a healthcare provider, they probably would be happy to set you up with a nutritionist to advise you on proper nutrition and/or a physical therapist who could set you up with an exercise program.

Yes, this is a perfectly normal blood pressure. Average blood pressure is approximately 120/80. Continue to monitor your blood pressure and document your readings for a week or two. If this continues to be a concern for you, talk to your healthcare provider.

That is a perfectly fine bp to have. Just because you hear the norm being 120/80 doesn't mena anything. Actually the lower the bottom number, the better from your heart. That means that your heart is resting at a lower level than most people. BP's change constantly so as long as you are feeling good, don't worry about the little changes.

Being one that has somewhat high blood pressure, I've been and both ends of this delima. Your BP sounds almost a little low. I accidentally took two BP pills one morning and my BP went too low. Tell ya what, Low BP made me feel worse than high BP ever did. Heck, I actually passed out ! I usually feel best when mine is around 120/80.
