I've got one like that, he turned up in the garden as a kitten, he's nearly 2 now and just beginning to settle. Be patient, she'll get better with time.

If you were trapped and then dumped in prison wouldn't you be afraid of the creatures that did it to you? Try sitting on the floor in the same room as her but without making any effort to touch her. It's good to talk soothingly to her while doing this. Try treats between you and her but closer to her and then gradually move them closer to you. Only 1 treat per day and at different times each day. The idea is to foster a feeling of safety, not create a Pavlovian stimulus. Also let her see you playing nicely with the other cat.

Give her as much time as she needs to get used to you. You won't be able to change this cat over night, so to speak. As long as you continue to take care of her and treat her good. Eventually she will learn to trust you. She has been traumatized to a point where it will be some time before she will trust any one. Be patient, let her be. Once she knows that she can trust you and that you won't hurt her she will make friends with you. Good luck, I hope this advise helps you out.

okay when u know u are having visters have ur cat in ur hand and when they come in tell them not to pet ur cat that will just make ur cat even more scared of people so have them feed ur cat a little treat when they come in but dont pet the cat and remeber it is okay to say no every now and then so it wont think other people are bad but if she is afried of you to then try feeding her a treat then eventuly she wont be so scared [but it does take some time].

You just have to show her that you aren't bad. Lure her out with treats. Try to play with her and pet her as much as possible. I've had many cats like that and they are all pretty friendly now. Just be patient.

She's scared because of her past experiences with people. Let her come to you. She'll eventually realize you aren't going to hurt her or scare her. One day she'll probably just curl up in your lap and you'll know she has learned to trust you.

You should give her more time to get used to your home and you. If that fails, pick her up and hold her close to your chest. This way she can hear your heartbeat and feels she is safe as well as knowing youre nothing but another living, breathing, feeling creature.
