British Dental Association (BDA) says tongue piercing can cause infections, speech impediments, breathing problems and broken teeth.
It says piercing always carries a risk of infection, but that risk is greater with mouth piercing because of the closeness of the airway.
Infection can cause the tongue to swell, blocking or restricting the airway.
In addition, bacteria under the tongue often spread quickly and can lead, in extreme cases, to the potentially fatal toxic shock syndrome or blood poisoning.
If piercing equipment is not sterilised, there is also the risk of infections like HIV and hepatitis being passed on.

I enjoyed mine before everything, yet after some years I only took it out. It did no longer harm in any respect, even nonetheless it have been given interior the way while i became ingesting. It takes a on a similar time as to maintain it balanced once you're chewing. Now that I definitely have had it out already 3 years, I nevertheless have only a splash a scar below my tongue from it (it sounds like a boil or some thing) yet that became the piercers fault, no longer each tongue piercing does that. and that i do no longer beleive the nonsense approximately kissing, it basically have been given interior the way and can hit my tooth, it rather is amazingly demanding, and it ought to reason the teeth injury. I additionally took out my labret via fact it became messing up my gums.

No. Not for men women, or their partners. Trust me most of what you hear is just hype. If you want to do it make sure it is for you and not someone else.
