A milligram is one thousandth of a gram, which is a pretty small quantity. Yes, it is part of the metric system.

10 mg is 10 milligram. 875 mg is milligram. Most of the medicinal tablets list the content of the medicine in milligrams and in a few cases, micrograms, which is one thousandth of a milligram.

Use an online metric converter so that you don't have to remember all the conversion factors. Link below.
Enter 10 mg as 0.010 grams, and 875 mg as 0.875 grams.

A milli is 1 / 1000 of whatever so a milligram is
1/1000 of a gram.
A kilogram (1000 grams) = about 2.2 pounds so divide
2.2 pounds by 1,000,000 for a milligram.
