I don't understand WD reasoning. But I think it is discovered that we are imperfect. After some amount of imperfection there is a forward transition from Status quo to error based on discovery of truth as God's will. Then after some error stage we learn. In the reverse direction going from Status Quo backward it is sin.

Using this continuous function weakness becomes sin like and the actual line is not perfectly clear from an objective perspective but internally we may know when we have sinned because we know ourselves and know when we know better.

Based on this the opportunities to sin are numerous and it is unlikely that we can be without sin or even not be in a sinful state at a given time.

The PENALTY for sin has been PAID IN FULL by the Son of God
when He died for us on the cross and shed His precious BLOOD
as propitiation for our sins.
If you don't RECEIVE the gift of salvation that God paid so much to make possible for you, THAT would be the REAL loss for all eternity!!! :-(

The Divine Giver can bear the greatest loss and live eternally with the thankful receivers.
But the sinner who denies this payment is eternally lost in his sins.
