I saw a stamp at work of an upturned thumb and I stamped my thumb. I like it, but am unsure how other people will percieve it (ie. future employers, people dating, etc...).

if this isa tattoo on a thumb as in actual part of hand tattoo, then its not going to make all that much difference in the long run. The skin on the print side of your fingers sheds constantly. Putting a tattoo there would only look good for maybe a month or two and then start to fall out and fade. You'd be lucky not to have either nothing or half a mess in 5 years. Most artists won't even tattoo there because of the bad results, its not going to look how you want it.

As to the idea of just a thumb being put somewhere, thats kinda wierd and how you're percieved would depend on the kinda people oyu work/hang out with. If you're worried about what people think of you then i would avoid getting something so outlandish, stick to something that you won't have to explain every 5 minutes to everyone who sees it. Dont make this a "sounds cool at the time but really dumb" tattoo that you will have to have covered up a few years down the line.

hand/finger tattoos aren't normally good for regular 9-5 working people. truth is, if you dont work a high paying corporate job, chances are you might be fine...but if you're not settled into a job, i think tattooing your hand is probably a huge mistake.

ask any tattoo artist...any one of them that wants to help you and not just make money...a hand tattoo is not the best idea if you're unsure of where you'll be working...it's just a tattoo...i wouldn't risk a future job for it.

Unfortunately it is a risk you take when you get a tattoo on your hand but as long as it is small and tasteful I don't think employers would look to badly on it. Plus you can cover it with a bandaid when you work if you think it might interfere with a job.

I love tattoos but I would not recommend getting something that you could not easily cover up, might be hard to get a job in the future and it's expensive to have them removed.

a tattoo of a thumb on your thumb? will you do it on the print side or on the top side? hand tattoos are generally frowned upon in society but whatever floats your boat.

if anything that is something else for reals. but do what you like because nobody is really going to pay attention to your thumb because its not the first thing people see.

Many upscale employers will not hire someone that has visible tattoos. It's a sign of low class.
