Alzheimers disease is a form of dementia. It is a progressive disease that affects the brain and eventually normal bodily functions. It is thought by many drs. that taking vit e and synthroid daily will slow the process. There are also new drugs on the market that boost a persons memory capacity dramatically for a short while. It is usually seen in adults over 50-60yrs old, but can affect a person younger than that. Short term memory defecits are the first to be observed...driving and not knowing where u r going or how u got there, simple words to complete sentences, names of friends/family. The disease ususally progresses over 4-10yrs to that of combativness, complete unknowing of spouses or children, loss of appetite, weight loss, incontinence, muscle weakness to loss of ambulatory functioning.

Alzheimer disease is a neurological disorder characterized by slow, progressive memory loss due to a gradual loss of brain cells. Alzheimer disease significantly affects cognitive (thought) capabilities and, eventually, affected individuals become incapacitated. Alzheimer-related issues can cause emotional and financial upheaval for both the individuals with the disease and their families.

It's when the brain cells die and the person loses their memory permanently. It is incurable and there are limited treatments. Once the brain cells are dead and the memory is lost, it doesn't come back. Eventually, the person forgets the basic things such as their name and who certain people are, even the ones very close to them. Very sad to watch a person deteriorate from this...

its a condition where the memory is unable to operate proprly. memory is, at least according to some, a chemical reaction. when the neuro transmitters in the brain mis-fire, memory is affected, as are many of the functions which use it. it is a slow loss of functionality, and memory to such a degree that even long time associates are totally unknown from moment to moment.

its a disease that happens to elderly people, and in the disease you begin to forget stuff, like where u live and everything else!!
