Because we rejected His healing. Why should our choices have no consequences? If we think we should be rewarded for doing well, then logically we cannot ever complain about being punished for doing evil. Thus, "God is not mocked; what a person sows, that person reaps." (Whatever you do has consequences, good for good, bad for bad.) If you hurt, like any physical pain, you hurt because you did it wrong. Locate the cause, fix it, and do it right next time.

But please do not be like the insane who expect to do the same thing and get a different result next time.

When we feel bodily pain, we know that we are ill in some way. When we feel emotional pain, we know that something is amiss emotionally. If we do not have the capacity to feel pain, then we also miss out on happiness; I personally will take the pain in order to experience the joy in life.

Suffering stregnthens your soul, builds character, and prepares you for eternal blessing. It hurts now but after the hurt is over you never feel it again and you have something joyous inside you that lasts forever.

Pain is a way to tell you that you are making bad choices. YHVH wants you to choose life, so He does not eliminate the pain caused by sin, hoping you will choose Him, and life. (It is a package deal)
