hum...

Romans 5:12 Sin entered the world because one man sinned. And death came because of sin. Everyone sinned, so death came to all people... Everyone NEEDS forgiveness...

1Corinthians 6:9 Don’t you know that evil people will not receive God’s kingdom? Don’t be fooled. Those who commit sexual sins will not receive the kingdom. Neither will those who worship statues of gods or commit adultery. Neither will men who are prostitutes or who commit homosexual acts. 10 Neither will thieves or those who always want more and more. Neither will those who are often drunk or tell lies or cheat. People who live like that will not receive God’s kingdom. 11 Some of you used to do those things. But your sins were washed away. You were made holy. You were made right with God. All of that was done in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

SEE VERSE 11. Forgiveness is widespread... IN CHRIST

The story of Joseph, from Genesis 37 to 50.
It filled with forgiveness and provision.

Literally, dozens of typologies of Jesus.

Best one I can think of right now? 1 Chron. 33:1-13. The story of Manasseh. I think this is one of the most powerful stories of forgiveness in the OT.

A couple of my favorite non-Gospel stories of firgiveness are....

The book of Hosea. It tells the story of a prophet who was instructed by God to marry a prostitute. Shortly after the wedding she left him and returned to her old lifestyle. Hosea eventually hunted her down, and found her in trouble, and was able to forgive her actions and bring her back home as his wife.

The book of Jonah tells the story of a prophet who disobeyed God when told to preach to the people of Ninevah. He knew that if he preached to them, they would repent and God would forgive them. Jonah wanted to see them destroyed instead. So once he got to Ninevah (following the "swallowed by a whale" thing), he went and sat outside the city under a bush for shade. God sent a worm to kill the bush and it dried up. When Jonah got mad about the bush being destroyed, God told him he should be upset about the people being destroyed instead. At that point Jonah finally understood forgiveness, and preached to the people.

God forgave Adam and Eve through the first blood sacrifice - He did not remove His Presence from them. But there were still consequences to sin (always are even today). God gave all people a way of forgiveness and relationship to Him through Israel and the Mosaic Law if they wanted to accept it. Rahab the harlot was saved at the Battle of Jericho by obediently hanging a scarlet rope out of her window - she and her household were spared. She was brought into the spiritual economy of Israel and she was in the lineage of Christ. There are many such stories of salvation and forgiveness.

Psalms 103:12 - Psalm as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

That is a good one that I have loved, but there a tons more and not just from the Gospels(Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John).
