Both are important. Believing in God will make you listen to His commands and therefore to be a better person...

Please read my words carefully:
If you see footmark in the sand, you'll say that someone passed from here...
If you see a piece of dog sh*t on the ground, you'll say that a dog passed from here...
So what about the enormous universe, the sky, stars, planets, earth and all the beauty in it, doesn't it lead to that someone made it?!!!

Some people say that everything is created by itself after the big-bang... I won't ask you about what caused the big-bang, but I'll ask you a simple question:
If you take all the letters of the alphabet, multiples of them, and you threw them randomly on the floor. Do you expect (by a chance of one in infinity) to get a poem like shakespear's??!!

Can't you see how organized our universe is, the planets, the eco-system on earth, look even in your own body... Can you control your heart-beat? Can you control your breath while you're sleeping? Who stopped your eye-lashes from growing after reaching a certain length? Who told the baby turtles to move towards the sea and not to the earth after they come out of their eggs? Who taught the bird how to make nests?

My friend, think with your heart and brain. If you're still lost, think about the following:

Do you know how to play safe?
Non-believer's case:
If there's no God and you do all what you want in life, then nothing will happen to you after life. But if there was God and you were mistaken, then you'll blame yourself FOREVER...

Believer's case:
If there's God and I followed His commands in life, then I'll be in Heaven after life FOREVER. But if there was no God and we're mistaken, then nothing bad will happen to us after life...

Now you know how to play-safe, in case you're not convinced?

Believing in a god means nothing if you live your life miserable because of it. Being a good person is more important.

they should both be the same, but, I will say to be a good person because belief in God is not enough. Even Satan believes in God. Hopefully the only way you are a good person is through Jesus.

The one common factor in all religions is to be a good person. Isn't that the point of religion? To have the masses of people conforming to the rules of society? Imagine what the world would be like if no one believed in God and did whatever made them happy. Man created and Idea that if you question your religion you are bad. I believe in a higher power because it makes logical sense to me. I do not like to associate my higher power with a man made religion due to all of the problems in the world due to religious differences.
To answer the question: find the answer about God for yourself by educating yourself and questioning what you read.
Be a good person because this will make you a happy person and the people around you will benefit as well.
Good Luck :)

I agree with the previous poster. What does believing in God have to do with being a good or bad person? A belief is a belief. Being good comes from within.

If you believe in God, hopefully you'll be a good person. If you don't believe in God and it ends up that God does exist, then it won't matter if you're a good person or not, because you're not going to end up in Heaven on good deeds alone.

To be an all around good person. I mean, look at the Ten Commandments. They're basically there as rules for humankind to follow as to not destroy the world...

Which apparantly people don't follow... just watch the news.

I am personally not religous, but I think that most of the Ten Commandments are something that everyone should follow, because as an advanced civilization there should be rules and codes of general conduct.

Make sense?

To be a good person, because if you try to act or be like God that's where the problems start.

God is God and you are what you are,

BEING A GOOD PERSON. at last someone asks the RIGHT question!!!!

I know sooooo man xians that are just down right mean and rude judgemental and ill say it ... evil.

I know alot of non xians or people who dont believe in God as well who have very good morals and respect for others. If xians were all perfect then we wouldnt be seeing stories on the news abt kids xian parents killing them or drowning them in the bathtub!
