The standard bar used to be two ounces; now they are about 1.5 ounces. They have covertly reduced the weight and hidden it by hoping we cannot convert grammes to ounces. Bring back our bigger bars.

Perhaps because the people who are eating them are getting bigger.

I believe, your right when the weight got converted they gradually reduced the size. It is smaller because the chocolate bar companies don't sell as much as before. Reason is, all our money is strapped by the cost of living. We buy our groceries and there is no money left for treats. Parent are more careful as to how much junk food their children eat also. The chocolate bar companies want 80% profit now. The difference in the size is visual to older people but not to the real young.

When I was a little child.... 'Wagon Wheels' looks huge and it was a treat eating them as they looked bigger than my hand.

Years passed... when I got one 'wagon wheels' and I just looked at it in dismay. It was no longer bigger than my hand and it was smaller.

I think its probably our eyes have gotten bigger! haha. Well like the first answer - world has gotten bigger.

Thats why the sweet companies have brought out 'double' and 'triple' or 'kingsize' bars now.

Can't believe how much they cost now... soon it'll be a fiver for a kingsize Mars bar!! Wish they stayed the same price as they were in our childhood days and we all would be living like kings and queens but then again the companies need to make their money otherwise there would be no 'Wagon Wheels' or 'Mars' bars!

Just go out and buy yourself a 'kingsize' bar or a box!!! haha

They are trying to get us to eat smaller portions. Not fair is it? We should be making our own choices. What's worse is that they are making us pay the same amount for their smaller bars. and expecting us not to notice. Some serious cost cutting going on as well I think.

Most likely chocolate is getting smaller because people know that chocolate is addicting to people and if they keep selling it at huge amounts, lots of people will be getting obese. I like chocolate, though I don't eat way, way, way, way, way too much! Yum!
