I see that a lot of people here respond vehemently when confronted with issues they disagree with.
Would it be better if all of us could learn to slow down and consider that, our beliefs would be better received if we were to put other's feelings as more important than our own?

I think the best way is to take the indirect approach.
A well thought out illustration can reach the person, where direct confrontation will cause division.

yes ur right about others feelings. and u cant convince some 1 to see ur viewpoint. the only thing u can do is state it. its up to the person if they want to consider it or not. and ive found that if ur nice about something u'll get mostly nice responses. every once in a while u still get a rude person, but not very often.

I prefer Mrs Butterworths syrup but your pancake mix with just add water is acceptable. I prefer a maple flavored bacon though and fresh vanilla black coffee. Orange juice is optional though I do prefer with pulp country style thankyou. Oh yeah, definitely don't use Crisco or vegetable shortening..yuck. Olive oil with sesame blend is fine though. Yes, let's talk about things over a good breakfast for sure.

I think the best way to get people to consider your viewpoint is to consider and respect theirs. Then they might feel less attacked and feel more open to listening to you.

Beliefs are so personal and emotionally connected that some people just can't consider another viewpoint. Any question feels threatening to their world.

Religion and political issues are by nature emotional. Try to convince a Muslin that he is a fanatic or a Protestan that Catholics are better or vice-versa ... Or that Republican top Democrats... It's just the nature of the beast....

If people want to consider my viewpoint, I generally tell them, like the Buddha told us... don't take my word for it... do the analytical study and research yourself and come to your own conclusions, or not...

I deeply respect others' beliefs as long as they're not using religion to cause harm or suffering.

Yes, and by using bible Scripture to prove what you are saying can help the person or person's learn what Gods will and purpose is too.
But it should be done as tactful as possible.

Be reasonable.

People who get argumentative or preachy often end up converting people AWAY from their viewpoint.
