Only a qualified doctor can make that diagnosis. In fact, only a qualified doctor can make ANY diagnosis.

Hi there,

You could very well suffer from depression. Being bi-polar is a very scary thing, and usually includes more then just depression and then a boost of energy. My father is bi-polar and has been to many doctors, psychiatrists, sleep therapies, counseling and numerous tests. Not only does he have severe depression, he also over spends, then doesn't remember that he did... and wonders where is money went to. He can become angry- happy within a minute. He doesn't sleep well, and suffers from headaches (which could be caused by something else) and HaS severe anxiety. If you truly think you are bi-polar the sooner you go to a doctor the better. They will diagnose you and form a treatment plan. However, I would look into simply having depression first then looking further from there.

Best of luck
K

Your description is vague about what you do Sun to Thurs., therefore the problem could be with what you do during this time. Fri. you go to the Gym feeling probably energetic and happy from most likely the exercise (releases all sort of good energy for most) or a break from the Sun to Thurs.
It's not all that uncommon to be depressed at work or at school, especially if you are not all that thrilled to be there. Problems and deadlines happen but if you can deal with them, learn from them and move on, the problem goes away. It just depends on if what you are doing (Mon-Thurs)that is causing your unhappiness or anger.
However, if you still can't figure things out then please see someone about it. There's no use going through life feeling sad and angry all at the same time and not knowing what how you should feel.

It sounds like bi-polar, but it is not necessarily. Bi-polar's main characteristic is the quick cycling between really high highs (mania), and really low lows (depression). But it is not all that simple. The only way to know for sure is to go see your doctor, and probably a psychiatrist. There is no way for anyone here to diagnose you without a professional and in-person examination.

If you do have it, there are lots of ways to contend with it, including LOTS of prescription options. My wife is bi-polar, and though there are occassional bad episodes, she handles it all very well with a little medicine and some exercise. You're not alone! See your doctor about it right away! Good luck!

Some people here have pointed out that a characteristic of bipolar disorder is a fairly quick cycling between mania and depression. Let me clarify that it does NOT have to be a matter of days, or even hours. Some phases can last for months and still be considered serious. According to the NIMH, "when four or more episodes of illness occur within a 12-month period, a person [can be] said to have rapid-cycling bipolar disorder".

The first person who replied is right, only a certified medical practitional can diagnose any condition. Please seek professional help if in doubt.

Bipolar is a mental disorder that there is not an exact test that can say you are definitely bipolar, i know i have a son who is 18 that is bipolar that has taken us many many years, hospitalizations and medications to figure out. You have to see a psychiatrists and work with him/her and let them make that determination. Its not an easy road but if you are there are many meds to help control it.

Maybe, but when you're bipolor it happens within hours, not days.
